Welcome to Ware Festival July 2001

 Mayors Prize
The Town Mayor, Peter Horry, will present a prize to the best dressed child and the best dressed adult at the town carnival.

Building on the success of our Carnival & town fair, the committee took the decision to expand its activities this year & for the first time the festival will cover all 4 weekends in July. To help our planning we focused on the following areas -

  • Encouragement for new groups or individuals to be involved
  • A focus on participation
  • Activities to be varied and suitable for all ages

The Themes for the weekends are:-

    1st Weekend, Friday 6th Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th July
Carnival and Town fair in the Priory Grounds, and Waterways Festival

    2nd Weekend, Friday 13th Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July
Activities - opportunities to try different things on the river and on land, including Beating the Bounds (boundaries) of Ware

    3rd Weekend, Friday 20th Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd July
Food & Drink, including the 'Party at the Priory' and the Wine & Beer Circle's annual show

    4th Weekend, Friday 27th Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th July
Music & Performing Arts, including The Three Valleys Singers at Christ Church and Rock in the Priory.

Ware Festival & Carnival relies on the core of volunteers who form the committee and give their time to plan and organise the town fair and procession and the events. My thanks to all of my committee and to all of the Town council staff who have helped plan the Festival Events.

Please make the hard work and effort worth while by attending one or more of the events - there is something for all tastes and age ranges! I look forward to meeting many of you on my visits to the Ware Festival Events during July
