Ware Festival July 2016

The Parade in 2015The 2016 Ware Festival begins on Saturday (2 July) with Carnival Day and continues right through the month, culminating with the famous Rock in the Priory.

The theme for Ware Festival 2016 is 'Roald Dahl'.

The festivities start down by the riverside on Friday (1 July) when members of the Lea & Stort Inland Waterways Association arrive in Ware with their flotilla of boats. They meet to make ready for their fabulous boat parade which takes place at 12.45pm on the Saturday..

The Town Carnival Parade will then start at 1.20pm and immediately after the Parade passes the Priory gates, the Town Fair will open (approx 2pm). We can promise you the usual wide array of stalls and great entertainment in the arena.

This year the Ware Festival welcomes back the 3rd Riverside Real Ale Festival which takes place on the 9th July.

Carnival Weekend - 2nd & 3rd July

The Lea & Stort IWA will have their usual weekend of fun, the highlight of which will be the Parade of Roald Dahl themed boats at 12.45pm, followed by the Carnival Parade at 1.20pm.

The Town Fair opens in the Priory grounds at 2pm where there will be a host of stalls and entertainment. There is fantastic arena entertainment all afternoon along with all your favourite stalls. The afternoon is compered by Herts County Sound.

Entry to the town fair is £1, under 12s free.

The is an Art Exhibition by the Monday Art Club in the Riverside Hall at 10am-4.30pm. Entry is free & refreshments are available.

On Sunday 3rd July, Ware Brass will play on the Priory Island in the afternoon - 3pm-5pm - admission free.

Performance Week - 8th, 9th & 10th July

The fun continues with Performance Weekend, Friday 8th & Saturday 9th, Ware Operatic Summer Concert perfoms opera choruses & a selection of West End Musicals.. 7.30pm, Drill Hall, Amwell End. For information & For info & tickets visit www.wareoperatic.org

Saturday, 9th The third Riverside Real Ale Festival. 20 REAL ALES & CIDERS Soft drinks and Wine Families welcome before 6pm. Live Music in the evening is provided by Test the Waters & Adam & Rick. TICKETS ONLY £2 per adult Ticket Valid ALL DAY/EVENING.

Ventura Animal Adventure appear at Ware Priory 2pm-4pm. pop along & meet the animals! Free admission.

Sunday 10th July

Hertford & Ware Music Centre Summer Musical Celebration at Ware Priory 2pm-5pm featuring the East Herts Concert Band, East Herts Youth Orchestra and string ensembles. Free. Leaside Church will be serving their traditional Ware Festival Strawberry Tea

Action Weekend - 16th July

Saturday 16th July
Pavement Artists Competition 10am in St. Mary’s Churchyard & St.Mary’s Church Fete 10am in St.Mary's Churchyard. Prizes for different age groups. Bring your own chalk!!. Entry forms from Ware Priory. Judging/prize giving at 11.15am.

Ware Open Raft Race - 11am-1pm, An open entry raft race with crews of between 4-6 persons will take place from the library car park to the Saracens Head and back to the Town Quay behind the library. Competitors can deposit materials for raft construction in the Library car park at 11am. Strictly no rafts to arrive fully assembled. The race will start at 12.30pm.

Family Putting Competition at Ware Putting Green in the Priory Grounds. 1.30pm-3.30pm, teams of 3. Adults £2, under 16s £1. All proceeds to Ware Festival Charities. Entry forms from Ware Priory.

Farewell Weekend Sunday 24th July

33rd Ware Festival Great Duck Race The Rotary Club of Amwell will present the Annual Duck Race at Ware Lock. The Race will start at 4pm. Tickets will be on sale during Ware Festival. All proceeds to local charities.

Rock in the Priory

Rock in the Priory offers another great family day out with the best in local music. This year it takes place on Sunday, 24th July. £5 adults and £2 concessions, £10 family ticket with up to 3 children; under 5s free. For details on the line up visit www.rockinthepriory.co.uk

The Ware Festival Committee is made up of a mix of councillors and representatives of local organisations. Local organisations represented on the Committee are: Raynet, Hertford Regional College, Leaside Church, Christ Church, After Eights Ladies Group, Ware Drill Hall, The RBL Lea & Stort Branch IWA, Town Twinning, Ware Joggers, and Ware Real Ale members.

The Ware Festival & Carnival relies on the core of volunteers who form the committee and give their time to plan and organise the town fair and procession and the events. Thanks to all of my committee and to all of the Town council staff who have helped plan the Festival Events.
