Just to say if anyone is looking for a plumber, just had some great work done by Paul Medwell who is based in Ware - found his details on this site.

I'd agree, we just used Martin and he did a very good, thorough, professional job and fairly priced, I've no hesitation in recommending him

I would highly recommend Martin Eves, 07749 297292. Just had some work done to immersion - very professional, friendly guy with good rates.

He notified Ware Online that he is no longer trading in this area and has moved away.

Ah I thought I hadn't seen him for a while ! I'll check in the plumbcentre tomorrow to see if he's definitely moved away, they will know.

On another note, re: trust a trader, mybuilder, rated people et al...
Be vary wary of these leeches. They are there to make money from tradesmen, not consumers, so remember who their customer is. If a tradesmen gets a poor review submitted he can have it removed. There is also many incidents of fake reviews being submitted. They also make alot of money plying tradesmen with promise of work.
I have not ever, and will not ever use these companies as a way of obtaining work, and many good tradesmen I know share the same opinion.
Stick to local forums, friends and relatives for genuine recommendations. This thread is testament to this working, Paul's a nice guy and I've looked through his bathroom portfolio, he is very good at what he does, it's a shame if he has moved away. He was one of the people I referred my customers to for new bathrooms.

Unless anyone knows different, it looks like Paul has moved to Nottingham looking at his website? His mobile number and local Ware number are no longer in use as shown on the local businesses section? can anyone confirm that he's moved?

Alternatively, has anyone got any other recommendations for a plumber?

Great idea

I've added a 'Recommend this business' to the business directory.
It'll allow users to recommend a business and the recommendation will appear below their business profile.

Emails have to be validated before they appear and the business is sent a copy of the recommendation.

Let's see how it goes. If it turns into a complaints system, I'll remove it.

Thanks to this thread, I used Paul Medwell and agree with other's on here that he is friendly, highly professional and very reasonably priced. I like to use local suppliers, if possible, and it would make sense if these post were in a sub forum and easy to locate.

I would always prefer a WoL lead over 'Trust a Trader' - all I am suggesting is that these threads are archived in a vey obvious way so that we can refer back to them, rather than people keep setting up new threads. It would have nothing to do with endorsement.

I used somebody from "Trust a Trader". Unfortunately I had a very bad experience and the guy has now vanished into thin air!
SallyB Posted - 18 Apr 2012 : 22:56:34
Scottman, that's a great suggestion and I'd support it but also share Richard's concerns about implied WoL endorsement. However there's the Trust a Trader site (http://www.trustatrader.com/) which might be just as good and also have the advantage of not being seen to be endorsed specifically by WoL senior management.
RichardH Posted - 16 Apr 2012 : 15:48:26
...But that might imply that the website itself endorses a particular trader - I doubt they's want to do that...
Scottman Posted - 16 Apr 2012 : 13:41:20
Could I suggest to WoL senior management that we have some sort of 'WoL recommended trades list' so we can all access these details when we need them ? It will save the same question being asked again in a few months ...

We have just used Paul Medwell to install new sink and bath taps plus sorting out and repairing cisterns; he is friendly, highly professional and completed the job under time and for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Yep, we can vouch for Paul too. Highly professional, came out really promptly, sorted the problem and very reasonable fee. Top bloke; we will definitely use him again.

I needed a plumber in a hurry as I came home to a leak this afternoon. Paul Medwell came out straight away, went straight off for the part and the problem is now fixed just one hour later. Excellent service and value, and highly recommended. His number is 07542 232425 and he also has a website www.paulmedwellplumbing.co.uk
