It seems to me that there is free parking already at Tudor Square. Even worse, some dipstick not only left the gate open but left the unlocked padlock hanging from the bracket last Friday afternoon. Perhaps Peter Horry's old plan for public executions in the area should be extended to all forms of torture and retribution for recalcitrant motorists who park where they are not supposed to. Perhaps EHDC or Dave Walton should acquire and actively use a wheel clamp with a £5000 fee for removal. We might all get a cheap BMW, Hummer, Jag or Range Rover if the owners can't afford to pay for their misdeeds. Alternatively, Heartbeat's Steve Folland suggested a giant blender for the square. Perhaps a car crusher would be better.
There is likely to be a traffic order soon which will mean the traffic wardens will then be able to book people parked in the square. Also early in the new year it is likely that rising bollards will be placed at the entrance to Rankin Square which will stop any unauthorised people from driving through.
I do have a key for the square, and have, and will continue to lock vehicle in the square, however while the cherry picker is in there painting the upstairs flats, I have left it alone.
