the sun and harrow was originally just the Harrow, other pubs misse d off the list are The Royal Oak, The Crooked Billet,

By the way, the house is still there - it's tucked away off a path and is called "Ware Hall House". It looks fantastic.

I remember the row of cottages across the road from the bottom of Watton Road - used to cross over to catch the bus after visiting my Nan who was the last licensee of the Chequers.

If you come into the old bull there is a list on the side of all the pubs and there was more than 52 on the list

whilst on the pub lists , as mentioned in an earlier reply to this post about the feathers , opposite hanbury manor entrance used to be a pub called the black swan , then after the sow and pigs , there was the windmill , opposite there was the george , 30 yards from there on the right was the bull , further down was the white hind ( the signage is stii up ) and at the bottom of ermine street was the wrestlers , then over the river the anchor and then finally the feathers .
you could of course then have gone up high x hill to the wheatsheaf or then one of three pubs in high x or one of seven in colliers end , not forgetting the fox in cold christmas !
