It's usual practice for the deputy Mayor to become the Mayor the following year. Having said that - Cllr. Mark Pope was deputy Mayor 2006-07 but it was George who took up the role in 2007-08. |

I'm sure I saw the Mayor George Powell last night outside Storm Bar wearing a yellow fluorescent Police jacket. Has he got himself a new job?

If the town council follow tradition, Katy will be Mayor next year and will become Britains Youngest Mayor.
The record currently stands at 28

Ware has a tradition of female mayors. In the last few years we have had Phyllis Ballam, Jan Wing, Victoria Shaw and Jeanette Taylor. |

And before that Jo Horridge as well :-) At the time the youngest Ware Mayor as well I believe.

| i have just found a photo of Katie Little. More important than her age, or lack of, is whether she would be a good Mayor or not. |

The fact that Katy stood for election and won is good enough reason for me. I think she'll be an excellent Mayor and will hopefully encourage younger people to take an interest in local politics.
Still - this is all rather premature. Councillor Ballam has only been in post 3 weeks.
What do people expect the Mayor to do? |

I find that a strange reason - lets face it (no disrespect to Katy whom I have never met - not my ward) but anyone wearing a blue rosette would win.
Before the current "blue" phase I knew all my ward councillors from meeting them at various events around town. Those now in post I have never met, never seen at events and they have never bothered come around canvassing. |
