I find it rather worrying you wish to applaud a thief. You post implies it is his own fault as he forgot it, much like someone forgetting to lock their door. Nobody has suggested the laptop owner was robbed, simply that he had his property stolen. And I am sure he feels rather violated at the loss of his computer which could contain his entire life like many people's laptops. |

I don't think anybody is Applauding a thief; It is his own stupid fault that he got on a train and forgot what he got on with. What you seem to want to do is "hang, draw and quarter" anyone who doesn't live up to your imaginary standards. We do have a system in this country where people are assumed innocent until proven guilty. If you think that this is wrong then maybe you are in the wrong job. Stop preaching some right-wing (Daily Mail) crap. |

Erm apart from when Surfer Rosa said "I for one applaud the hoody scumbag for taking the forgotten laptop."

Of course he has some level of responsibility, I don't think anyone has said here that he doesn't. I am unsure where you get this notion that I wish to hang draw and quarter people, but please feel free to make moronic comments.

How patronising, I think as a someone who is quite senior in their chosen profession I am aware of that, probably more aware than you actually.
When on earth did I say I thought that was wrong? I can assure you I am in the right job, and I do not read the Daily Mail, the only one I can see posting crap is you.
So next time I suggest you learn to read before you start having a pop at someone and making personal comments about them.

Ok this has gone far enough. Let's all have a sensible adult discussion and cut out the personal insults.
If you disagree with someone's comments, you have a right to express that disagreement and put your own views, but personally insulting comments will not be tolerated.
Continue and the topic will be locked and the individuals concerned may be excluded. |

| Slightly off topic but to praise the honesty of Ware (and Hertford people) last year I left my rucksack with smartphone and car keys and wallet, on the 395. The bus carried on round Ware, went round Hertford and came back. I stopped it as it came back to homefield Road, and my stuff was still where I had been sitting. No-one had touched it. |

With recent events in mind I think that most people would think twice before touching an abandoned rucksack. You're lucky that you didn't cause a major security alert and have your belongings scattered over a large area in a controlled explosion.

Yes, normally over zealous secuirty guards who see every other piece of abandoned rubbish as a potential bomb. |

| I know I was lucky, and I'm sure in London it would have been blown up. Kids were getting boisterous and distracted me as we got off the bus!! I would have treated it as a potential bomb if I came across it. But the honesty point still stands, no-one knicked it! |

It's very rare that controlled explosions are carried out on pieces of abandoned luggage and the like, normally an initial investigation* is carried out and it is found to be non dangerous and just ends up being taken away.
*It's kicked. |
