Can anybody tell me who I should contact to ask how I go about requesting parking restrictions (i.e. double yellow lines) for my cul-de-sac. We are repeatedly having problems with double parking by HRC students. I have contacted HRC and spoken to the Estates Manager, but while very sympathetic, there is little they can do apart from remind their students to show consideration for neighbours and ask them to park in the Little Acres car park if they have stickers to enable them to do so. Our cul-d-sac is quite narrow and double parking makes access extremely difficult. Parking restrictions have been implemented in several local roads nearby to HRC, which has had the knock on effect of moving the problem on to other roads without parking restrictions.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by double parking..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_parking

The only one that fits the location is the first one, but as that's illegal surely you could get the police to attend?

I'm assuming you mean parking on both sides of the road, in which case double yellows on one side would be a way to fix it.

I don't know who to contact, but I wanted to clarify what the problem was.

East Herts Council are responsible for the enforcement of on-street parking controls

However, it is the County Council who put in place parking restrictions. Residents' Parking schemes are East Herts. It's pretty confusing!

If its tight for a car to get through then a fire engine or ambulance would not make it so that is the line to follow.
