i posted on here last night and now i have disappeared, where have i gone? all i wanted to know was which councillors in the forthcoming local elections are vehemently against the proposed biffa incinerator, those who are not sure and those who think it is a great idea. i need to know because i consider this is the single most important issue in ware, there will be no turning back once it is built we will be living beside a huge industrial site which will affect all our lives one way or another.
ps. please don't erase me again, i really would like to know |

| The Lib Dems and most of the Tories are dead set against the incinerator, after some pushing. We don;t know where George Powell (a tory) stands as he wouldn't voice an opinion at the Town Meeting. If a candidate won't tell constituents what they think about a major issue, they don't deserve to get the consituent's vote. Help with others who support/have no opinion? |

At the recent Town Council Meeting a direct request was made to the Town Council on their combined position but none has yet been made by the Town Council. Quotes taken from existing councillors who attended the meeting can be seen on the BIG website (see http://www.burningissuegroupware.co.uk/default.asp?contentID=651). As mb1 says above, there were councillors who did not make any statement and you will notice that George Powell, for instance, is not recorded on the BIG website as having voiced an opinion whilst at the meeting.
Contacting your own candidates on this issue, which you correctly interpret as the biggest thing to ever threaten Ware, and getting their views (hopefully in writing) is the best way to work out who will get your vote. If you do get quotes which would benefit the residents of Ware and places nearby, please drop a line to the Burning Issue Group (e-mail address on the website home page), who will be delighted to record them alongside those already on the website. Some candidates have made statements on their own position in their literature that is now coming through your letterboxes ahead of the local elections.
Folk who are on the BIG contact list will get updates when there is significant news. To become a member of the list go to http://www.burningissuegroupware.co.uk/default.asp?contentID=1#join.

Stop already. Please can we have one topic for the elections, not one per day/question. Go here and post to your hearts content. Please try to avoid duplicating topics.
Can you repost under the current topic area and I'll clean up later tomorrow. Thanks. |
