Once again Wares method of fire fighting road repairs has brought about a dangerous condition again!

At the end of Westmill road heading east where the cemetery ends the previously cold filled hole has opened up again but bigger than before. With the amount of traffic including heavy lorries and buses going through this narrow section you would have thought the council would repair it in the correct way.

So beware if you are coming into Ware from the A10/A602 when you get to Watton Road take care this hole is big enough to cause damage to your vehicle.

'Funny' you should mention this, I 'found' it at about 3am this morning, I wondered what the hell the front n/s front wheel had dropped into! I suppose I'd better check the tyre and wheel this morning

I believe John that if any damage has been caused you can claim from the council, I would get pictorial evidence if you do.

My car found that hole last night on the way home - what a shock when you see it coming too late to do anything to avoid it.
This morning, the rear brakes have locked on the car.
I wonder if this is related? I'll have to ask the chaps at Autocare if they can suggest a cause.

Hoe Lane is breaking up as you near the Rugby Club, coming out of town. I hit a big hole there this morning (full of water so I didn't see it) and my teeth are still rattling....

This is a Ware wide problem and maybe it should be an election issue!

The Westmill Road pothole has had a temporary fill, I hope its temporary, although the smaller of the two holes has not. I hope they are going to dig it up and repair it properly but I doubt it.

I took pictures of Wulfrath Way/ Quincy Road and Heath Drive to the Highways lot via email and shortly afterwards the former gets re-surfaced and the latter gets a makeover.

Result or coincidence I don't know, but it's worth a try.

I was under the impression that the coucil are not liable for any damage caused by bad road/pavement up to the point they are notified of the problem.

That being true make sure you report potholes etc to the council, they will soon repair it to avoid liability.

I think everyone should take a look at their road and report anything that needs attention maybe the authorities will get the message.

The one outside subway was there last year and patched-up, goes to show that quick fixes don't help long term. Perhaps we could compile a list of road issues and submit to Herts council. I'll start :)

- Railway Bridge (where they have now put a 'Ramp' sign).
- The majority of Watton Road.
- Church Street, from the High Street to Crib Street (also 'fixed' last year).
- Hoe Lane near the Rugby Club, coming out of town.
- Fanhams Road is looking more like a dry river bed

* Added Scottman's issue, added Fanhams Road.

And here's an easy way to report and track issues. Seems that the council pay attention to these:

Fanhams Road is looking more like a dry river bed than a road, I feel for the motorcyclists in Ware.

I've just hit that pothole outside Subway!

My car is now booked in for an inspection on Wednesday, to rule out damage to 2 x 225 tyres, 2 expensive alloy wheels, and the suspension too. If there is any damage I will have a report written up and the council will have a claim.

I wish somebody had put a cone or something onto the road to warn drivers of it looming - very difficult to see at night, even when you are only doing 20mph.

Wish I had read this thread in full now before driving through the high street this evening!

I hit the hole outside Subway too.

As I went out the other side, my mind was recalling this thread (moments too late, of course.)

Damn.
