Nothing was gritted between Ware and Barnet on Sunday morning - saw accidents and cars off road A10 northbound (as above), A10 soujbound at Hoddesdon, M25 above Cuffley. Ridgeway closed completely. Car in field off Stag hill, Cockfosters. Sheer mayhem.

Well, once again credit where its due. A FANTASTIC job done over the last two nights on the road surface over
the London Road railway bridge. I just hope the road gang did something to stop the 'sideslip' which has
regularly caused the subsidence over the ramp. But its amazing at the moment - a proper job.

Well done HCC. Could you now start on the residual moonscapes around this fair town ?

The noise of the work was very audible from my bed last night. Can't hear anything tonight, has it ended?

I doubt they would have had enough time to do much work on the embankment to stop the subsidence, so enjoy the smooth surface while it lasts!

Does anyone think the shoddy pothole patching is cost effective? Holes are poorly filled and in some cases within days, are already in need of repair!

Yes it was a two night closure - Monday and Tuesday. I don't think they could do much about the embankment,
though they did strengthen the kerbs. The embankment on the north west corner of the bridge is particularly bad.

The patching cannot be cost effective at all - it is at best temporary

Look forward to checking out the bridge later today.

In the meantime, just keep reporting those potholes...
http://www.hertsdirect.org/actweb/hfr/default.cfm

At least that leaves them no excuse. But it's shameful how temporary the "repairs" can be - the speed hump at pedestrian lights at the bottom of New Road is a prime example.

It's also sad to see work that cost money (e.g., the Vicarage Rd/Bowling Rd speed table) turning into lunar landscapes that cost even more money to repair - even though that's never done properly...

I am amazed at some of the potholes that have opened in Crib Street in the last month or so.

This whole thing just does my head in .....we have major roads - like London Road and Watton Road - still with big holes, and some more minor ones (like New Road) with real problems but last week a team of repairers were working filling in potholes along a dead end residential road in Great Amwell.

It beggars belief ....

Whoever is prioritising the work needs ...er ....replacing.

Did they not warn you before you moved in Winter? crib Street generally ends up looking like the surface of the moon come spring, and indeed it's happening again.

Have you reported the Crib Street potholes? With the best will in the world, if you don't report them, it is probably not reasonable to expect them to be fixed. Admittedly, the fixes are often rubbish, but they need to know the scale of the problem.

I've just reported the Crib Street obstacle course...

I'm on a bit of a mission on this one at the moment - having reported my "favourite" sites, I'm varying my cycle ride to work through Ware each day, and reporting what I find...

I still think we should be looking for 'Ware's deepest pothole'.

Where is it ?

The deep pothole in Baldock Street has already dropped after a shoddy repair and is very dangerous especially for the bikers amongst us!

I see signs that Watton Road is to be closed overnight soon for repairs, does anyone know what is actually being done? I assumed they would wait for Asda to cough up for the resurfacing of Watton Road!!
