Nationwide problem though, so there must be 'national' guidance - and if so; from whome?

I repeat my previous comment re the Amwell roundabout and the pot hole that has appeared in the new surface.
The new surfaces still do not "last years"

I suspect that earned the contractor a good few hundred pounds.
If they can do 20 or 30 of those a day and make 6K plus a day and know that in 2 weeks they get to earn it all again it's no wonder they have no time to knock and delay the work.
It's good work if you can get it....

I can't seriously imagine the council have any idea that the short term work they are having done is so poor and so short lived.

Its the nature of target led resources.
As long as a sheet of paper can be submitted to prove x amount of holes were filled, then the council are happy, as it meets their targets.

The potholes on Homefield Road between musley Hill and Trinity Road have now combined into a narrow, but long trench, be careful when passing that spot.

I noticed while out with BF today that some potholes in Westmill/Watton Roads have been ringed in white I assume so they can be seen in the dark!!

Not really. Its to identify the ones to fill, it will be interesting to see if its further firefighting or if it will be a professional repair.

I've a good mind to go out and white ring a few of my own, if that's the magic ingredient. They've done some on the road out to Wareside - and missed the biggest ones. Perhaps they need a different colour of paint, or mining engineers....

To be fair they have now done the trench ..... which was right next to the series of potholes still needing attention. They flit from hole to hole and can't seem to deal with a whole section. Must be ADD ....

It looks like the return to cold weather, with more snow forecast next week, and likely to stay cold for at least 11 days, could only make the problem worse.
Looks like the walk to work option again as stocks of salt very low still. We wait and see, as it is only a predicted forecast, but the weather maps/models I have been looking at have been rather accurate in the past.(Not Met Office)

To put Wares weather into perspective eastern USA had 10" of snow over night and 90% of their winter snow budget has been used up and they declared a state of emergency two days ago before it had snowed. I'm pleased that we do not have weather as extreme as they do. Having been in the eastern USA recently their roads are in far better than ours.

What a brilliant poster - err - where can one obtain one ? I have several sites that would qualify !

Could it be amended to

Herfordshire County Council, with its logo added ?

Perhaps we can embarass our esteemed Council into success.

Noticed a number of bad holes in the road are now marked with a white paint outer edge. I suspect the crews doingt eh work can't manage a map but can see a white line round a hole as the clue to fill it.

So if you have some white paint and see a hole not marked up for repair you can save the council the cost of sending a man (or woman) out to mark it by marking it yourself. Then when the crew come they won't miss any holes.
