| I think I am in the minority but I am not looking forward to the Olympics purely for financial reasons. No not mine, but GB ltd. We'll be paying for it for years to come. |

I think each runner does around 300m

Just because two have their *home town* listed as abroad doesn't mean they're not living over here at the moment. Though it's quite possible they've won the place or been appointed from overseas. Given that this torch procession isn't travelling the world, it'd be rather greedy not to share it with people from other countries. And at least we've got two from Ware.
The scheduling process is far from easy/perfect. I know one local resident who has a torchbearer role through his employer, lives locally to Ware, but will be running in Loughborough! I certainly wouldn't relish the role of scheduling all of that - and am delighted that the route appears as comprehensive as it does. |

If anyone has a contact for Chloe Halfhide I'd be pleased to know))) Also, I understand from Shirley that Bill Goode was a teacher at Ware Secondary School, Bowling Road in the 60s - would be great if we could ask him to join us for Carnival too so again, if anyone has a contact please let me know. Thanks. Ros |

| Just like they tried to charge over £800 for their ugly mascots to visit schools, a price so steep that in two years only one school has paid it. |

Thought I would post the revised timings to Carnival Day 2012.... as you now know, The Torch should be clear of the town by 11am so our proposed timing are:
11am Carnival Parade begins in Amwell End 11.45am Boat Parade Noon - Town Fair opens
Any of you out there with a stall booked for the Town Fair will need to be in & set up at the Priory by 10am as the roads will close at this time. There will be access to the Priory set up between 7am-10am.
We get a fairly substantial crowd for the Carnival Parade normally and have no idea how much this will increase for the arrival of the Torch Relay. If any members would be prepared to volunteer as a steward for both the Torch Relay & Carnival Parade I'd be pleased to hear from you. |

One Great Amwell's Cub leaders is carrying the torch and has to go to somewhere in the Midlands to do so! |

Yes, that's a shame, isn't it. I've got a colleague from Stanstead Abbotts running in the Hertford section. |
