My partner goes to Tesco every friday and the last couple she has told me about the man that is now standing around with the woman selling the big issue, my partner was asked if she wanted a big issue which she said no to and it seems now everytime she walks past him he make a point of getting very close to her.
Has anyone else had this? |

Not had that, but he does have a very intimidating way of holding your eye when you've said no....making life uncomfortable. But that said, 'eyeballing' is not against the law....I just object to people claiming to be homeless but able to afford the train in daily....I can't afford that much these days....
If they're legit, best of luck to them using whatever tactics that work, as long as they do no harm, but the cynic in me just has some nagging doubts....I'd love to be proved wrong tho. |

| Yes, it's as if he wants to block your path and those intimidated have to walk around him - the lady just pitched from a single spot. |

I have nothing against people that are homeless for real and as cchallis says the lady does wear gold and she has gold teeth not to mention a really nice smart phone that she goes to hide and uses, it would not suprise me if they drive away in a nice merc! I only moved into the area 10 years ago i come from Walthamstow, we have a nice little town here and i dont think we should put up with people like this they are taking advantage of local people and intimadating them, before you know it they will be on every corner! |

This guy is a bit bigger and in your face than 'thank-you-nice' ever was, but I look him in the eye, smile, shake my head, say 'no thanks' and haven't had any problem so far. Suggest you make your views known to the people at Big Issue, copied from website - To make a comment about a vendor 020 7526 3444 vendor.comments(at)bigissue.com
Their 'Find Your Vendor' doesn't show any outside of cities so maybe they don't even know of Ware. |

I tolerated him a few times and was polite with his " in your face rudeness , then when he eye balled my wife when she was with the children i made him feel the uncomfortable one .. Since then he leaves us well alone but trys the smile tactic .. Fact is " he should not be allowed to stand their as he's annoying the good people of Ware with his almost aggressive sales ideas and have seen him block peoples paths as already mentioned . Wonder what Winston Churchill would of made of him . |

| I'm surprised at these comments. I always walk past, look him in the eye, smile and say no thanks, and I've never had any glares, comments or intimidating tactics at all. It can be awkward having to do this all the time, but I'm sure he also feels awkward at times as a seller, and he would hardly remember who or who didn't buy. It's very easy to think of him as the other; someone we don't really want to think about or have to encounter, but why should he not be welcome here amongst 'the good people of Ware' as someone put it? He's a human being, trying to earn some honest money, and deserves to be acknowledged. Please think twice about 'reporting' him. |

at EmilyO. I think the complaint is against the man who is with the female BI seller. He appears to act as a minder/bouncer figure and people are feeling intimidated. |

I'm not. Typical WOL. I'm surprised nobody's tried to imply they've eaten our swans. |

That wouldn't happen this time of the year ...... meat is too tough whilst they are raising their cygnets. Just wait until Christmas time and he'll be off down the river to tw*t a couple over the head with rolled up copies of unsold Big Issues but at least there won't be a problem with him intimidating peeps on the street. |

Moulder I admit I've only ever seen one man there. Haven't seen the woman in a while. |
