Snow arrives In Ware
Published:30 Jan 2003

Snow arrives In Ware
Watton Road at 5.45pm
Heavy snow has led to traffic chaos in the area as many people left work early to avoid the bad weather only to find the roads almost impassable.

Long tail backs on roads out of the town built up between 5pm and 6pm as cars tried to join A10 and A602. A broken down lorry on the A1 between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage caused further delays. Weather forecasters say blizzards will continue this evening with the wind chill factor taking temperatures overnight well below freezing.

Some people enjoyed the weather too

Ice on all roads will mean difficult to dangerous driving conditions on Friday. The BBC weather centre says people should think twice before venturing out tonight. The RAC advised motorists to drive carefully, reduce your speed and keep your distance. Not everyone thought the snow an inconvienience. Youngsters took advantage of the wintery conditions and built snowmen and had snowball fights. Share your experience on the Ware Online Forum
