Ware Operatic Society Published:10 Mar 2005
The Gondoliers was recently
Performed by the Ware Operatic Society at The Castle Hall, Hertford.
For those of us who have been captivated by the charms of Venice, who have floated along the canals and been serenaded by a handsome boatman, this operetta was a feast of nostalgia!'Take a pair of sparkling eyes', 'Roses white and roses red,' and the Duke of Plaza – Toro, all part of the magic of Gilbert’s wit and Sullivan’s charm, did not fail to engage our audiences at The Castle Hall this March.Their producer, Malcolm Hollow inspired the company to give an exciting visual performance, especially as they danced 'the cachucha', and the society are very pleased to have welcomed Neil Bell as the musical director who achieved the perfect balance between the orchestra and the performers. The audiences come again and again to the shows, between 1st 5th March, because they know the reputation of this talented company. With the magnificent four – part chorus enhanced this year by some exciting new performers, and captivating principal singers, they are always assured of a great feast of tunes and talent. Please note in your diary for early March 2006, not to miss the Ware Operatic Society production of "The Merry Widow." The Ware Operatic Society are a very friendly and welcoming society. They attract members from Ware and the surrounding areas to perform one main show and one concert every year. They welcome new singers at all levels of experience and from all age groups. An ability to read music is not essential, (but a willingness to learn is!) Productions, however, need more than singers. If you have an interest in stage management, lighting, costumes etc. they would love to see you.If you would like to know more or you would like to be included on their mailing list, please ring 0870 77 43432.Related linksView the Gondoliers Gallery
