Elastic Band Play at Ware Market
Published:5 Jul 2012
Visitors to Ware Market today were delighted to find they were being entertained by conductor Kevin Hathway and a lively group of young musicians called the Elastic Band.
The musicians, from the Purcell International School of Music, entertained their impromptu audience with a varied programme from Film themes to Disney tunes.
The group of 15 musicians attracted a lot of interest from passers-by and all said they enjoyed it.
Comments from the audience included "wonderful, I hope they can come again" "very professional" "something for all tastes" "what a good idea".
Hertfordshire’s Five Gold Rings is a sequence of musical events to celebrate Hertfordshire’s contribution to the Olympics. The Ware Market performance was sponsored by Riversmead Housing Association.
Kevin Hathway (conductor) commented "The 5 Gold Rings project is about bringing music into the community through young people and celebrating the Year of the Olympics - from today's experience it has been good for everyone".
Jan Wing, chair of Ware Town Partnership told Ware Online "I do hope this can be repeated and expanded in the future. It is good to see Tudor Square being used for something so positive".
