Re: Cycling-walking, Towpaths, Bridges in Ware-Hertford
Just had an email back from Frank Overare at C&RT - basically they are seeking external funding for towpath repairs, he has logged the section from Ware to the gauge house for attention and he will keep me in formed regarding progress. Which puts me back to square 1 about 3 years ago when I firs...

General email is customer.feedback@canalrivertrust.org.uk as per my post on 3rd July. Frank Overare is Frank.Overare@canalrivertrust.org.uk For the benefit of anyone who's not used the towpath to Hertford lately, here's a current picture.

Re: Cycling-walking, Towpaths, Bridges in Ware-Hertford
Had a reply from a Frank Overare at C&RT asking for some pictures of the section I am "displeased with". I have sent the same picture I posted here of the flooded path and some I took today of the assault course from the A10 to the Gauge house. Perhaps if more people complained somethi...

Re: Cycling-walking, Towpaths, Bridges in Ware-Hertford
There's not much point us whinging about this among ourselves if we don't bring it to the attention of the C&RT so I have emailed them again and suggested that they liaise with EHDC and try to get some funding for improvements. If anyone else wants to contact them all the details are on the webs...

Re: Cycling-walking, Towpaths, Bridges in Ware-Hertford
As I commute to Hertford and back by bike along the tow path each day I took up the state of the surface a couple of years ago, initially with SUSTRANS and then with the Canal and Rivers Trust (who I am told both own and are responsible for the path). Result was agreement regarding the poor conditio...

Re: Whats Happening?
I still check most days, but it's disappointing how few new posts appear - is it simply that there are no topics of interest or is Facebook the sole culprit? I personally would prefer to get local views from WOLers via the forum. (Some of the past mud-slinging could be quite entertaining as well! :o...

Re: Dean's Ablaze
Totally agree with JCB and Whereami. I would have no issue with flats being built if local first-time buyers (our children) could afford them. Reality is that property prices relative to income is about twice what it was when I bought my first tiny one-bed flat on the Vicarage estate for £10,650 bac...

Re: Operation 'Pram'
Parking on the pavement per se is not necessarily an issue as it depends on the width of the pavement - the issue is how much pavement is left for pedestrians. I read some time ago that Durham Council had decreed that if insufficient pavement is left for a pedestrian to pass with a push chair and a ...

Re: Baldock Street road works
I think the Kingsway junction is an improvement as the road is narrower and the increased pavement width improves visibility. However..... quite how the changes at the 'Charvill's' roundabout will work I don't know. Crossing from the 'Charvill's' side through 2 lanes of traffic when the roundabout i...
