Re: Cycling-walking, Towpaths, Bridges in Ware-Hertford

The bridge over the Tumbling Bay weir and the footbridge across the Lee to the east of Ware are now both unsafe. https://www.facebook.com/spottedinware/posts/1990440771019655 So come on, HCC, EHDC, WTC, Canal & River Trust, Environment Agency, Lea Valley Regional Park. Which one of you is going to t...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

AndyB, I'm not sure you realise the big figures are not just Ware. It's 839 houses per year from 2011-2033 which is 18,913 for the whole of East Herts, not 18000 just in Ware. The Ware figures are 100 by 2022, 800 in 2022-2027 and 100 2027-2033. With an option of an extra 500 if they build the Hertf...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

Its interesting that the Council are in favour of building on green belt. Which council though; HCC, EHDC or WTC/Wareside/Thundridge? Although the answer is going to be more or less the same. It's EHDC's District Plan. 7 of the 10 Ware town councillors are also EHDC councillors. To my knowledge onl...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

I've got a feeling the NP forum will be put off until the District Plan is re-activated. Apparently developing the Masterplan for Ware N&E is also on hold.

You're right about another thread. I'd be interested in discussing an NP for Ware and what it might mean.

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

And also, the maps for the proposed Neighbourhood Plans (NP) for Ware and Stanstead Abbots/St Margarets were approved. The Ware area is for the current town boundary, excluding those parts that are in the District Plan development. The Ware NP Committee is Cllr. Alex Curtis (Chairman), Cllr. Mark Po...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

Hah! Long story. Explained here. https://www.eastherts.gov.uk/statement-district-plan MP for Stevenage, Stephen McPartland, managed to get the Sec Of State for Housing (James Brokenshire) to put a hold on the District plan at 14:30 on the day of the vote. That doesn't mean the District plan is dead ...

Re: Street Life - Tudor Sq

I guess that's the way it works. Though it is somewhat surprising in cases where it's gone to appeal. Is it HCC or EHDC that handles the licensing? Presumably that's separate from the building work and change of use.

Rankin House, edge of Tudor Square

The Herts Mercury is reporting that the conversion of Rankin House to a Wine Bar has been approved. https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/news/hertfordshire-news/controversial-plans-ware-wine-bar-1993307 Err. Really? Because there's been no meeting of the EHDC Dev Mgmt committee recently. So who ap...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

Last call. EHDC Vote on Adoption of the District Plan On Tuesday evening, EHDC will vote on adoption of the District Plan including the proposed Ware N&E development. We need a big crowd to remind councillors of the depth of feeling from their constituents about the plan. 18:30 for 19:00 Tuesday 11 ...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware

What do you mean by "beyond the green belt"? It's the term as used by EHDC in the DP eg "Chapter 4 Green Belt and Rural Area Beyond the Green Belt" The London Green Belt boundary comes to an end across parts of East Herts. So while Ware is surrounded by green belt, there's a N-S boundary half way b...
