Wright's have been saying they have been doing this for some time - they publish the source of their fish each week.

Re: Cod Wars

What a big doorstep you have. The issue on duplication is whether they generate enough new custom - if you are just spreading the current trade more thinly then it places all at risk. If the existing places were to all lose some of their customers then it could put them all out of business. The marg...

Re: Maltings On Kibes Lane

"Community use" meaning what exactly, by whom. Would this venue offer something not already available? We already know the other venues are under used and have seen the moaning over Fletcher's Lea which was built before the demand slumped. Musley closed because it was too expensive to keep...

Re: Cod Wars

Made me smile that, in amongst the Wasabi Sauce etc they also do Mushy Peas. I wonder about the homework point and whether they have just made assumptions. I recall one guy (not on Ware) who opened an expensive fitted kitchen shop in an area where property prices are much higher than here. He assume...

Re: Cod Wars

Perhaps it'll open on a Sunday, I had a grand idea for fish and chips on a sunday once and was surprised they were all shut, not sure why I was surprised really though. And don't get me started on Wrights being closed on Mondays! The number of times that's caught me out... On the other hand, I admi...

Re: Ware Town Council

Please can we return to topic - the value of Ware Town Council. :) I would have thought a discussion of a service which is provided by WTC and the scheme which EHDC have used to replace it is on topic. From the article in the Merc soon to be coming your way. In any event this whole discussion is un...

Re: Ware Town Council

Not sure what you mean by "enlightened" Some people, particularly women on their own feel intimidated going into pubs (and for some pubs this applies to men). I would also not want to take small children in because of the new vocabulary they would learn - I recall one very graphic and clea...

Re: Ware Town Council

I have to say that I think that being able to use toilets of businesses without using the business is a really good solution. They are cleaned regularly, safe, and there are more of them. They feel much safer and hygienic than public toilets. I have used the Spread Eagle, The Tap Bar, and Tesco, al...

Re: Ware Town Council

Sorry but I think you must live in some strange other reality - WTC certainly do not "rubber stamp" as even a brief look at the various minutes would show. But the problem is that EHDC simply ignore whatever decision they reach. As for the other services they would go - EHDC would certainl...
