Re: Local Elections

It's lower than last time Mel, significantly lower, but last time was a General Election too. Plus there's some evidence of Tories staying home because they're angry at the party nationally. But it's not wildly lower than the national average for Town and District elections. Which is sad.

Re: Local Elections

The Green Party is standing candidates but not doing a lot of campaigning as we have very little money for leaflets, and not that many members to take to the streets. I'm standing in st Mary's Ward and I've been trying to spread the word on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/MartinButcherfordistrict...

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.

Pat-Hs post wasn't a rant at all. It was a clear explanation that for political reasons the Tories are forcing Councils to do away with support for social groups of many kinds. That's just recognising the reality of what this government is doing.

Re: Can anyone name this shop

I can't say for 60 years ago, but it was a SPAR already when I was a litle boy fifty years ago. Could have been an indepedent store before that, but could well have been a SPAR too.

River Lea end? Good if so. Need to make sure any futue design is respectful of the look of the town, not the 1960s type vandalism that parade represents.

Re: A602 to Stevenage

They've put five portacabins into a newly prepared works area on the verge by Hertford Road in Stevenage. The grund around the Westmill roundabout has been staked out ready for work to commence, but the previous signs saying work would start there on August 29 have been changed to say the vaguer "du...

Re: A602 to Stevenage

Yep. Much worse. Major road works at the Westmill roundabout start Tuesday, as do roadworks at the Hertford Road roundabout in Stevenage. Expecting long delays especially once the schools go back.

Re: Fanshawe Pool

There's a long way to go yet. The Council have admitted that there is no possibility the capacity from Fanshawe and the other pool will be made u in the ones that stay open, but they don't care. All that would be needed to stop this would be for the Tory Party to have an internal meeting and say the...
