To get an idea of the significance of the proposed 1500 homes has anyone any idea how many homes there are currently in Ware?

It represents an approximate 20% increase in the population of Ware with no specific improvements of infrastructure in terms of roads, public transport, healthcare (neither GPs or Hospitals), water, sewerage, waste processing or education. This has all been pointed out to EHDC in both consultations and largely ignored in each revision of the plans.

Steve, I'm unsure of the exact next steps. Mark Prisk expected the inspector to come back some time early next year with a set of adjustments that would/should be made to the plan before it can be declared sound. An adjusted plan would be produced. That would be put out for the public and council to consider. The council would then vote on whether it should be accepted. At that point developers would produce master plans and specific proposals for development within the plan. Those specific plans would be discussed and approved.

And so on. With actual building beginning some time beyond 2020.

But maybe I'm confused.

I stand corrected. You are right.

This is the correct process.

That said, what is the key point at which Ware residents should rise up and object to the overall implications?

Should we - even at this late stage - try to stop the District plan, or the elements that apply to Ware? All this is really doing is objecting to green belt land being redesignated and appropriated for residential and employment building in the future.

If not then, it is for us to resist the individual development plans as they come forward from, no doubt, a number of builders and residential developers. If that happens, which of them will be made to take responsibility for improving the overall infrastructure of the town so that it can better cope with the inevitable traffic increase, passenger increase at the station, and strain on services including water, sewerage, schools, clinics, doctors etc?

Don't forget all the extra cattle that will be being walked along the High Street to get to the cattle market on Hoe Lane.

You're right - will some of the farmers have Commoners' grazing rights on the Buryfield?

or even King George's playing field?

Well part of the problem is we elected in a government committed to reducing red tape.
Needless obstructions to businesses and developers.
We will now see just how that plays out.
We've seen the more tragic results of removing red tape very recently.
