Steven "Barney" Barnard

Post by Scouter »

You might have seen the Mercury front page story about Steven (a.k.a Barney) being involved in a motorcycle accident and losing his life. He was a 3rd Ware scout leader but also involved in things like young leader training. He was a real character and the kids loved him and indeed so did adults too. The Friday Scout troop at Broadmeads became an impromptu remembrance evening and was well attended and I know that he will have a plaque placed in the Arnos Grove memorial garden (he was a tube driver). I'm in a different section and indeed, a different group but I'll miss him.

Too true, he's had a massive positive impact on the lives of so many in Ware over a long period. And a sad loss that will be felt by many, far and wide...
