The Mercury reports the Sun and Harrow will be knocked down to build a care home. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/H ... 093724.htm
Glad that something is finally happening with the site.
Sun and Harrow to be Care Home
Re: Sun and Harrow to be Care Home
Isn't it listed?
Re: Sun and Harrow to be Care Home
Seriously? I can't think of anything about the building that would merit it being listed (which it isn't, BTW)IGS wrote:Isn't it listed?
At the risk of veering off-topic , the list of all Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest in Ware can be found at

Based on recent experience, would this make any difference?IGS wrote:Isn't it listed?
The record of EHDC on listed buildings is not good.

Interesting site. Saw that the old Musley Infants School building is listed - look at the state of that!Steve wrote:Seriously? I can't think of anything about the building that would merit it being listed (which it isn't, BTW)IGS wrote:Isn't it listed?

That was my point, EHDC do nothing so listing has no effect - Musley is a wreck and none of the promised work has been done, only a matter of time before it is demolished.tonyappleton wrote:Interesting site. The independent chapel is another where EHDC have done nothing.
If EHDC contact them owners put the council off with vague promises and the council go "Oh that's alright then" and go away. Years later nothing has changed.
Re: Sun and Harrow to be Care Home
I don't think picking on two isolated cases is representative. I could similarly pick out cases where the District Council have taken enforcement action and even prosecuted. Picking on individual cases and making generalisations without being fully aware of the facts of a particular case, and then presenting them as representative of the council's conduct, is unfair and distorted. The Masked Woler wrote:That was my point, EHDC do nothing so listing has no effect - Musley is a wreck and none of the promised work has been done, only a matter of time before it is demolished.

I agree that "making generalisations without being fully aware of the facts of a particular case, and then presenting them as representative of the council's conduct, is unfair and distorted." which is why I haven't done it.
