Navigator Changing Name
Navigator Changing Name
The Chavigator is going to need a new nickname. Scaffolding was going up outside yesterday and the pub is having a refit and reopening as The Waterside. The banner announcing this had a weblink on in, but either I didn't remember it right or the website hasn't gone live yet. Let's hope the food is better in The Waterside than it was in the Chav.i am glad to see it isn;t being turned into flats though.

www.watersideinnware.com was registered on July 14, but is not working yet.
Re: Navigator Changing Name
The refurbs seem to be going on fine...
As it is being rebranded Waterfront Inn, are we to assume that they will be providing lodgings?

Re: Navigator Changing Name
Was the chavigator that bad for food? I am first in the line for food snobbery but i seem to remember they weren't too bad for a swift no hassle ham egg and chips for a reasonable price when I fancied cheap simplicity!
Re: Navigator Changing Name
I went there twice for food and both experiences were pretty dreadful. Hoping the new setup will be a lot better.

Re: Navigator Changing Name
Well..........new pub sign says 'traditional ale house' so, fingers crossed we have a decent choice of ales/ciders not just plain national blands. Outside looks quite smart but I suppose we'll have to wait till next Thursday to see what new pub co. 'Stonegate' have done with it.
Re: Navigator Changing Name
The Stonegate Pub Company has taken over another former Smith & Jones pub in Stevenage Old Town. Formerly The Proverbial, it is now called The Drapers Arms and opened this week, even offering free food at lunchtime on Wednesday. The interior is laid out better and there are more beers on tap. Here's hoping they do the same to the new Waterside Inn...
Re: Navigator Changing Name
From the Stonegate website it looks as though the Waterside will be one of their 'Great Traditional Pubs' brand http://www.greattraditionalpubs.co.uk/ The Drapers Arms in Stevenage is in the same brand.
The food menu looks good, certainly better than the muck the Chav served - http://www.draperarmsstevenage.co.uk/food-and-drink/.
