Without wishing to express an opinion either way. I am vey surprised that good old elf and safety hasn't banned the sale of fireworks yet outside of proper events. And yet, my son at beavers has to wear gloves now when holding sparklers.....

This would have been a decision made wholly by the Beaver leaders.

Most health and safety measures have nothing to do with health and safety legislation and everything to do with people and organisations covering their own backs (for fear of litigation).

In fact, the HSE are so fed up with people using Health & Safety as an excuse that there's now an entire section on their website devoted to it:

‘Health and Safety’ is often incorrectly used as a convenient excuse to stop what are essentially sensible activities going ahead. The Health and Safety Executive has set up an independent panel – the Myth Busters Challenge Panel - to scrutinize such decisions.

The display was not organised or paid for by Glaxo. It was an event organised and funded by the Allenburys Sports and Social Club for its members and friends.

The Allenbury's Sports and Social Club should have been more considerate and socially responsible by ensuring that their neighbours were aware of this event beforehand. This is not the first time!

Why don't you contact Allenburys and tell them what they could have done to be more considerate and socially responsible? They don't know unless you tell them, especially if this is not the first time!
