Our existing Chairman is retiring in June and we need to recruit a replacement by the end of May.
Could you become our Chairperson and a Charity Trustee at the 1st Stanstead Abbotts & St Margaret's Scout Group?
Charity Trustees are volunteers who make some of the most important decisions in Scouting. They are members of a group known as the Executive Committee and every local Scout Group has one. The Executive Committee in Scouting is like a board of governors in a school; essentially it makes sure that the best quality Scouting is delivered to young people in the local area. The volunteers that make up the Committee give their time to ensure that Scouting continues to meet its charitable purpose: safely and legally.
The Group Chairperson role is a support role who works with adults and manages behind the scenes, not one which works directly with young people or activities.
As a Group Chairperson you will:
- Help to support and develop local Scouting, allowing young people in the area to experience fun, friendship and everyday adventure.
- Put your existing skills and experience to good use.
- Learn new skills that could help build your CV, or just add to your experience or confidence in certain areas.
- Make a difference to young people involved in Scouting locally.
- Meet new people and have fun.
Our Scout Group is buzzing with activity and is a great place to volunteer. With two Beaver Scout Colonies, two Cub Scout Packs and a large Scout Troop, we have over 150 boys and girls aged 6 to 14 years old, meeting on four nights of the week in two buildings.
Check out our website, Facebook page and Twitter feed to get a flavour of the great stuff that we do.
Please contact us now if you, or anyone you know, might be able to help.
Thank you
