Good Lord, who was talking about seizing anything, I just thought it might be a good idea for Premier to BUY the Roebuck!

Probably a tad larger than you could fit on the Roebuck site!

Fair dos. Given that the Murky said a planning application would not be submitted until June or July I didn't bother checking the EHDC planning site.

Masked WoLer is right the Roebuck owners don;t want to sell as an hotel. it's been reported they have refused two cash offers. But when they fail to get planning permission for houses, they won't have a lot of choice.

I think this would be largely positive for the town and would bring people in. The plans and location look ok to me.
Having it here could boost the local eateries and also those venues (like the Flea/Priory) which offer conference facilities.
As an aside, I would think building this would possibly increase the chances of the Roebuck getting their permission to demolish.

I'm sure there will be objections to having it on the entrance to the town but does it look any worse than what is there now?

Excellent news. It can only be a improvement on what is currently there and will bring investment and jobs to Ware. No doubt there will be objections as it is a 'budget' hotel and not directly imported from Mayfair, but this hotel can only serve to improve the attraction of Ware to local business people etc who will be encouraged to stay there and will probably venture into town in the evening rather than stay in their room.

Premier Inn's are quite nice places to stay in either for business trips or attending functions miles from home. It will create jobs and be good for the town.

Looks like a relatively appealing plan - much nicer than many of the blocks of flats around. Well located near to the station too.

Thats an excellent point. As someone who has spent plenty of time away from home in such situations I've always like to have a look around where I'm staying. Most budget hotels are in positions where the land was cheap (like the Travel Lodge by the printers on the A10) so its great place for one to be built. Plus the jobs will always be welcome.
