I can't help but think, as I drove past nodding approvingly with their new frontage, that I thought the same when the 'chavigator' moved in....

Coincidentally called in at The Drapers just yesterday morning for a coffee with visiting family. Good coffee, friendly, pleasant staff but it took FOREVER to serve 5 coffees..

I drive past today and think it looks better than it has done in years.

I had lunch with some work colleagues at the Drapers Arms in Stevenage Old Town and we were not impressed.
Even though it was virtually empty, there was confusion over the table number and two people had long waits for food. When it arrived the salads were dried out and the burgers were at best average. The BLT was a joke, even I could have done better.
Let's hope the Waterside Inn is better...

went past this morning and I must say it looks good. Maybe we should give them a chance and welcome a new arrival to our high street?!

Went in tonight as a group of six for their trial run evening. The beer was good and the food was very good. The portions were huge. It was all freshly cooked. Mrs MB1 wasn't wildly happy with her salad which lacked enough dressing and was a bit bland, but my beer and wine pie was lovely. The staff were friendly and hard working. the decor is good. They have definitely gone way up market from the Chav in look, food etc. we'll be going back. Tonight was on the house, but 6 main meals, four alcoholic drinks and two soft drinks would have been £69. We'll go back.

Went in tonight, very nice. Was allowed in but warned shorts (mine quite smart!) not suitable and dress code rules seemed a bit hit & miss. The decor is a vast improvement and a fine selection of beers & ales (6 cask ales + 2 more and a good range of lagers). All in all very good and it seems they are determined not to go back to the bad old 'Chavigator' days, give it a go!

I was told by some 12yr old at the door that it was only Very Important People allowed in but saw lots of dubious characters going in. If that is their attitude then I hope they fail!!!
