Watton Road Parking

The parked cars at the top of Watton Road opposite page hill are a hazard. Turning out of the residential parking at the top of the hill is very dangerous you cannot see cars coming up the hill. In addition travelling down the hill is restricted by these cars parked on the bend.

The bottom line is these cars are parked illegally, the road has solid double white lines. The highway code states "You MUST NOT stop or park on a road marked with double white lines, even when a broken white line is on your side of the road, except to pick up or set down passengers, or to load or unload goods"

I have called the local police several times about these parked hazards and nothing has been done, it's only a matter of time before someone has a serious accident.

Please follow this link to see an example of some of the bad parking

It's election time so our representatives are supposed to pretend to be interested in us for a week or two. Have you tried our MP and our councillors to ask them to talk to the Police?

Certainly agree, this is a very dangerous spot at the best of times, being so narrow and on a bend. With the opening of Asda shortly it can only get worse, as presumably this will be the route taken by the heavy delivery vehicles. This is surely a spot for yellow line restrictions, as these selfish car owners just do not seem to care about the safety of others. Lets have some action!

Yes technically that's true, but I bet he'd be on this quickly if asked at this particular point in time.

But they haven't parked on the road, they've parked on the pavement - which makes everything OK of course.

Doesn't it...?

A particularly horrible road to drive down at that point.
