We're in the season where potholes are starting to appear, and the bodged repairs carried out last year are just waiting to fail. So here's a continuation of the thread from the old forum.
The best thing you can do is report the fault to the Council here.
Potholes
Re: Potholes
Alternatively you can use the Fix My Street website (http://www.fixmystreet.com/) run by the charity MySociety. The reporting system is the same, but they keep an eye on reported problems and check whether a Council has done the work.
Re: Potholes
I used to, but then I tried the direct approach and it seemed more fruitful. To be honest, the monitoring of Fix My Street didn't seem very effective, and was more a case of periodic emails to me, asking if the problem was fixed. Might give it another go, though, as the concept is a good one.mb1 wrote:Alternatively you can use the Fix My Street website (http://www.fixmystreet.com/) run by the charity MySociety. Re: Potholes
Not immediately in the area but they have fixed those unmissable potholes just as you turn into edinburgh way in harlow towards toys r us etc. You could not avoid those. In fact, they are digging up that entire roundabout, anyone know what's happening there?

Re: Potholes
Drove round the roundabout on Sunday and it looks as though they are rebuilding/landscaping it. It is a relief that the trenches (they weren't just potholes) have been filled in.
Re: Potholes
The junction of kibes lane where it meets new road is a disgrace, full of holes and difficult to avoid. Is this a current state of our roads in Ware or do I need to report it?
Re: Potholes
If you don't report potholes, then it may not be unreasonable for the council not to repair them promptly!!!Matt40 wrote:The junction of kibes lane where it meets new road is a disgrace, full of holes and difficult to avoid. Is this a current state of our roads in Ware or do I need to report it?
That said, I do agree, and had only this morning reported the one mahoosive one, along with a load of others in other roads.
Interestingly, I see three stretches of road in Ware that appear to have been marked up for resurfacing:
* Bowling Road between Musley Lane and Vicarage Road
* Vicarage Road between Bowling Road and (I think) Jeffries Road
* Priory Street from High St to Harris's Lane
Priory St has been a pet hate of mine for ages, with a road surface that has disintegrated and is generally loose and falling to bits. There's one huge lumpy patch near the Lido that has been patched from time to time, each time just changing the lumpiness of the surface rather than improving it - needs a big wide berth in a car.
Don't give the council an excuse - report the potholes!!!
Re: Potholes
To give credit where due, there has been a pretty significant effort to improve road surfaces all around the area over the last year.
It is AMAZING at last to have a complete new road surface on the A602 from the end of the Tonwell Bypass to the Benington turnoff.
It looks like the London Road from the John Gilpin to van Hages is being 'addressed' shortly, and similarly the Hertford Road from Ware College towards the golf course.
Well worth WoL concentrating on what still needs doing and reporting each, before they run out of enthusiasm again. But well done Herts Highways/Ringway - good efforts!!
