Hello, I'm investigating the option of a career change. I've honed in on the occupation of a Sports Development Officer. Whilst I've read up on various websites what it entails and what I have to do, nothing beats speaking with people. Is anyone on here a Sports Development Officer, have contact with one or know one, who would be open to having an informal chat with me.

Good luck with that, but you'll find that the government took that budget to pay for the Olympics. That's why there is none of the promised legacy of sports participation.

Basis for this statement ? Participation may be down on last year but is up 1.5m since the Olympic bid was won. Last years cold winter may explain the drop last year. But either way surely too soon to state No legacy.

To answer the original post surely Wodson Park would be a good starting point. I'm sure they have contacts with appropriate people who could help. I know there are a number of people who tour schools, taking classes and encouraging participation at primary level. Maybe the council could help put you in touch ?

Wareite1969, Thanks too, I'd already contacted Wodson Park and they said that they didn't have any contacts (!) but did direct me in the way of HCC, so I'm waiting for a response to an email I sent them, which I imagine will be after Christmas/New Year. But good to see that I'm thinking along the same lines as others.
