Hi all,

does anybody have the current number for Martin Eaves (plumber) i've lost it and need to speak with hm urgently.. or any other local plumber who can replace an element on a water tank, lost hot water and have 3 v young children

Whoever you get out to replace it make sure they fit an 'Incoloy' or similar element that is designed to be used in hard water areas as the standard copper jacketed ones seem to fail in this area in about two or three years, lost count of the number of elements I've had to replace before I discovered 'Incoloy' ones.

Also a lot more people have Stainless Steel tanks these days which are incompatible with incoloy

Hence the 'or similar' in my post Mick. Don't think titanium elements were around when I last changed my immersion element (8 or 9 years ago?), my biggest worry is if I'm going to finally ring off the bit that the element screws into on the almost 40 year old copper tank , still I suppose that if I do, the scrap value of the rather thick old fashioned tank will help pay for a modern replacement.
