car crashes in london road
twice in the past 2 months cars going too fast have ploughed off the road and into the railings that protect the new river on london road. when will something be done about speeding cars on this stretch of road? the pavement is very narrow in places and makes pedestrians very vulnerable.
whos responsibility is it to fix the railings, the railings from the fist crash have just been bent back into the place, but are still unsafe, there is a gaping hole where the second crash was, this is dangerous and someone could easily fall in.

I seem to remember that the Water Authority, or is it Lea Valley Water, are responcible for the up-keep of the railings but surely this sort of repair is covered by the drivers insurance.
I'll email LVW and ask unless someone wants to call them. I'll post back here if I get a reply.

The railings are the responsibility of Thames Water.
I keep horses in the field on the other side of the river, and twice this year we have had vehicles through the hedge! One was a serious accident, when (luckily), I was feeding the horses, so they were at the top away from the road. I know that a 40 mph speed limit is to be introduced on this road, as signs with this proposal were posted along the road. However, local beaurocracy is incredibly slow and cumbersome, so it will be a while before they get thier act together, and sort it out! I regularly cross this road with horses at the entance opposite lower road, and the speed of traffic on London road is frightening! Some drivers, to thier credit will stop, and allow us to cross, but others simply charge past at 60mph+ regardless. I think that we need the speed limit in NOW, and it should be rigorously enforced!
