Chain of office

While attending to the stall in the Priory grounds that my wife was assisting at Mayor Phyllis Ballam called in and I was surprised at the condition of the Ware Mayor's Chain of Office. I thought it had seen better days and does not show the Mayor or Ware in the best light. The chain should be re-plated or maybe replaced with the old one being put on display in the Priory. If this post receives a favourable response I shall approach the councillors for my ward so Ware Onliners what are your thoughts?

the money to replace or restore this item would probably come from council tax payments, and in my opinion the money would be spent better on a worth while project, they wouuld be better of with a toilet chain,

Do you not think that as the Mayor represents Ware that the chain of office looking a little tarnished creates the wrong impression of the town. Remember the Mayor comes into contact with people looking to invest in the town.

the people who really COUNT are the one's like your wife. The kind of people who do things from the HEART,and never get or want Gold chains hanging from around there knecks, Just take a look at Saturday Scout leaders Brownies Cubs Ware youth football club, And the list just Goe's on. They do it to help they raise thousands of pounds each year for charitys of all kinds. Politicians local or otherwise do it for themselves and then want payment on top, So I say NO to new Chains lets see the money better spent.

Had another look at the chain of office today and I think I have done it a miss justice, each section is solid gold and hall marked. So no replating there then and it must have been bad light that gave me the impression it was in poor condition. I would like to see a jeweller put a shine back on it though. I think that closes this topic!!

Councillor Peter Horry is a Jeweller, so there should be no problem there, unless of course the old party feuding starts again.
