Rumours are about the Charvills site (Ware) being turned into a Police Station for Ware.
Can anyone shed any light? |

It's not a rumour, it is under consideration. The police stated some time back that instead of the current police station, which is neither in Ware or Hertford, they would move to two separate sites, one in the centre of each town. Ever since the demise of Charville's, that site has been in the frame for the Ware copshop.
Plus they can sell off the current site to a major supermarket chain and make a fortune in the process, which I am sure will all be ploughed back into crime fighting. |

| The current police station will become a housing development, with much smaller part-time offices opening in Ware and Hertford. Most of the administrative staff will be moved to Stevenage and most of the uniformed staff to Cheshunt. So my copper friends tell me! |

| There will be a police station of a sort on the current site and the County Council will sell off the remainder, admin staff are being moved to Stevenage in 2008-9. The site is not big enough for a major supermarket as a Community Centre is being built at the bottom end of the Police Station carpark near to the junction with Stanstead Road and Ware Road, with a police station remaining on site there would be little parking and would not get consent on these grounds alone. |

If true, will mean even fewer officers patrolling Ware, Bet the part time station will be closed in the evenings when the yobs need keeping in line. If most of the uniformed staff are moved to cheshunt, does that not indicate that Ware will have very few allocated. All in all a way of saving money.

Ever heard of a supermarket on stilts with underground parking? Look at the size of Tesco in Hertford - lots of space is taken up by the parking which if it were underneath the supermarket, the supermarket would be bigger or take up a smaller foot print.
In the past couple of years we have see hoddesdon sainsburys build double decker parking area to compensate for the extension to the store.
Asda in Harlow has underground car park as well.
If there is money to be made from the site I am sure a supermarket will build on it.

| How can they possible all move the Cheshunt. The nick here is tiny (I am in cheshunt at the moment!), unless of course there are underground bunkers. Or they are planning the be on patrol all the time, up & down the Lee (or Lea) having picnics |

| I was pleased to see two Police Officers in the town last night (at about 9 o'clock). They were talking to a group of young people who were in the Bus Stop by the Library. It's nice to see a presence in the town. |

| Think the rumour you heard is a bit off the mark Ben... Ware TV is going to be the new premises for Hair to Ware. A wig shop, not a cop shop! Although with all the police assigned to Ware, they'd probably fit in Ware TV. You could even display the delinquents in the window. |

They are currently in Amwell End and are relocating to the High Street as far as I know.
Does your friend Bruce look like your Avatar? |

| Yes. My Aviator, which was drawn by myself. Aviators to order are avilable to order. Imagine having your own custom one, unique and usable for so many other things. A framed original could be made available too - and all for a very reasonable fee!! |
