Ware Museum is a small museum with big ambitions. During 2002 we extended the museum including building a new entrance, visitor facilities with access for the disabled, an office and stores. We also refurbished and linked the Second World War Air-Raid Shelter as an educational activity area where schools can learn about the Blitz, the joys of being evacuees, rationing and so on. The cost of the work was £146,000 with £97,000 of it coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Ware Museum is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as the weekend.
Ware Museum is an independent museum, run by its trustees and supported by Ware Town Council, the Ware Society and East Herts District Council. It has full registration with the government's Museums & Galleries Commission, is a member of MuSE and a registered charity 295169.
