Anyone any experience of Plusnet
Anyone any experience of Plusnet
We're fed up with BT and their excessive charges and are thinking of going over to PlusNet who seem to offer a good package - does anyone have any experience of using them? Good or bad. Thanks
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
Isn't Plusnet BT's own company, their own version of Waitrose Essential so to speak? Not that that would necessarily make it a bad choice.
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
Yes, they're owned by BT but run as a separate business.
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
We use Plusnet. We've had no problems, the staff are helpful and any company that has The Cult's 'She Sells Sanctuary' on there telephone hold music gets my vote (I think the music has a Yorkshire theme).
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
Was headed their way myself until Virgin matched the deal
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
We switched from Sky to Plusnet a few months ago, and any issues we've had have been addressed quickly and politely. We just have standard broadband as our house isn't wired for super high speed or even cable. The only issues we've had was some regional downtime, and Plusnet taking a while to take our upfront line rental payment. Other than that, we get better speeds than with Sky and the we connect faster, although that is probably due at least in part to a better router. We are also paying quite a bit less than if we stayed with Sky as broadband/phone customers after we cancelled our telly package.
Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
When Sky bought O2, I jumped ship and joined Plusnet for £9.99/month.
My friend pays the BT bill while I just pay for the broadband.
Although it's "unlimited", streaming very occasionaly slows down.
Probably neighbours downloading more than their share of data.
Tonight the BBC speed test gave a download speed of 11,203 kbps
while steaming speed averaged 7000 kbps.
I signed up for a newsletter which today apologised for
"problems using or accessing some online service and streaming websites".
"We are continuing to work.........to resolve these problems."
"Sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing."
I have a feeling BT customers have prioroty over Plusnet ones.
Rightly so if they pay more.
On the whole I've been well satisfied so far for the price I pay.

Re: Anyone any experience of Plusnet
Well we changed our minds about Plusnet after having read lots of online reviews most of which stated that they started off well, but had recently got very bad and resulted in lots of downtime. So having seen an ad in the Metro for unlimited Broadband with BT we rang them and ended up with a much better deal than we had before and will be getting fibre optic next week. Fingers crossed that the poor speeds we've been getting will be a dim and distant poor memory - I'll keep you posted!
