Anyone with any views (for or against) should feed back through the council consultation.

They may well ignore it, but they're almost guaranteed to ignore anything written here!

Thanks for the comments and for all the consultation replies.

I am keeping a note of the comments on here and also on Spotted in Ware to take back to the Council (trying to pick up any obvious duplications). I take the point about there not being an option for neither so I am reporting the comments as well (anonymously) so that where someone has said they like the existing lights but prefer X if we have to have new ones or they like the lights and don't want new ones then this will be reflected.

I eat my words! Great to see a pro-active approach being taken to consultation - very welcome! :-)

Well done, let's hope the end result reflects the view from all concerned.

For the record, I like the old lights for the same reasons as everyone else has put forward.

I do think 6,500 per year to put them up and take them down seems a very large amount of money though, even though this will include testing, replacing dead bulbs and lanterns and insurance; surely it can be done for less money?

What about a charitable group of people getting together to put up the Christmas lights although I expect the elves from safety with not be happy about it?

My teenage daughter commented as we drove through the town one evening in December that the lights were lovely and made us different from other towns. I have loved them since my childhood and we both would hate a change.

Whatever happens PLEASE don't change to icicle lights!!

Slightly off topic but my worse eyesore in town has just been replaced! Domesticare has a new overhang outside their shop - A vast improvement!
