VE Day parade

Post by Scouter »

There will be a VE Parade on 10 May 2015 which is being organised by the Ware Branch of the Royal British Legion). The timetable is as follows and it's worth noting that Kibes Lane will be closed to traffic from 1.50 until the parade leaves for the church.

2.10 Inspection by Town Mayor / Royal British Legion Representative

2.15 Parade moves off – Saluting base will on the right at Ranking Square

2.25 Parade arrives at St Mary’s Church, Church lane.

Standards / Colours / flags and escorts marched out to muster by War Memorial

Remainder of parade dismissed

2.30 Wreaths or floral tributes will be laid by the Royal British Legion and other parties

2.50 Church parties and dignitaries leave War Memorial. Standards, Colours and flags dismissed

After the parade all participants are welcome to attend the Royal British Legion Club in Gladstone Road for refreshments

I had forgotten about this and it's a shame there was no serious publicity locally. Celebrating the defeat of fascism in Europe is well worthwhile.
