Public Meeting about Dog Fouling

Ware Town Council has received an increasing number of complaints about dog fouling in local parks and open spaces and on our streets.

Despite raising this with East Herts Council, the situation has not improved.

Councillors would like to give local residents the opportunity to tell them where the problem areas are and to share ideas for solving this problem. The Town Council is holding a public meeting to discuss the issue on Monday 23 May at 7.30 pm at Fletcher’s Lea, Ware Prriory.

For further information please contact Jill Rowlinson, Town Clerk, Ware Town Council, Ware Priory, High Street, Ware, Herts SG12 9AL. telephone 01920 460316, email: [email protected]

Thankyou

Councillors and Town Clerk at Ware Town Council

try walking down the towpath... took my young daughter down there recently to feed the ducks (cranemead area) and it is wall to wall dog crap, i couldn't actually believe how much there was, it was everywhere on the path, at the sides, on the stairs of the bridge... just disgusting... it cut short our walk big time... not only do you have to deal with the tour de france speed time trials going on, you have to watch out for the crap as well...

The Bourne area isn't great.

But I suspect its going to be worse where people walk their dogs.
Just a guess mind.

This is an age old problem and not all dog owners are the same I for one am in the pick it up brigade but maybe we are becoming a minority, I recall there's a fine for not picking up but that's only if caught? My only suggestion is to contact the council and complain regularly.
Here in NZ dogs are registered annually the fee is NZ$55 about £26 this pays for a warden, poo bags which are in dog walking areas and a guy who empties the bin every day even on Sundays and generally the areas are pretty clean although it does get a little worse when the schools are on holidays and the kids walk the dog and they cringe at the thought of picking up.

Had a problem a few years back with a dog poo outside my house. I reported it to E.Herts Council, who similarly just put up yellow stickers on a few lampposts. Still had the problem re-occurring and when I phoned back to ask if anything more could be done they said no. Maybe, naively, I was expecting them to an send inspector around to help catch the culprits and fine them £1000. But alas nothing of the sort. I lost a bit of faith of what they were actually their to do. The dog poo was just a phase and it did eventually cease.
