If anyone today noticed a ginormous bit of metal dropping off their car, next time could you please pick it up before I drive over it. Just by The Navigator, on that side of the road.

Looks like a DIY rear mudflap mount off of a lorry, but how the hell did you manage to get it stuck into the inside wall of a tyre?

It wasn't stuck there, the man who changed the wheel pulled it out of the bottom of the tyre before I could stop him, so I rested it on the top to show the size of it.

It's a bit rich berating a long gone, unidentifiable motorist for their vehicle maintenance if your own driving competence isn't sufficiently high that you can't spot a "ginormous" lump of metal laying in the road in time to avoid driving over it.

I sometimes find, like when coming up to a roundabout, for example, that looking at other cars and which way they are going, as well as various pedestrians, is sometimes more conducive to safe driving than scrutinising the tarmac for things that I wouldn't expect to be there.

Just for the record - this is the little bit of metal I picked up on the A602 at the Dane End turn off almost exactly a year ago

That's horrendous  How much damage did it do to the suspension/bodywork? :?
I must have a charmed life, as in 3/4 million miles of driving, over the last 47 years, I think I've only had a handful of punctures, the worst, and last, being caused by 6" clout nail, coincidentally in this area, in Stanstead Abbotts, about 8 years ago. :?
